She's all cheeks at 15 weeks!

Image
Izzy turned 15 weeks today (at 4:20'ish in the morning to be exact)! Wow. On a great note, her Acid Reflux is better if not subsided. Maybe she didn't have AR but we were just over feeding her. She always seems hungry (starving even) so it's so difficult not to overfeed her sometimes. I think I inadvertently made my baby chubby. :-x I feel that if I were still breast feeding her we wouldn't have run into this snafoo, but enough kicking myself. So we reduced her bottles, are being better at holding her upright after her meals to help aid her digestion and went down a size in her bottle nipples so that she wasn't getting a ton of food before she realized she was full. ((knocking on wood)) On and even more fun note, Cowboy and I are taking our first trip away from Nugget! We're going down to Charlottesville, VA this weekend. Just for a night but still! We're pretty stoked. It's somewhere that we could see ourselves living and raising our lil family e...

Acid Reflux, not nearly as cool as Acid Jazz (which tells you a lot right there...)

We think Izzy may have Acid Reflux. BUMMER! She's squirming around a lot when feeding, sometimes coughing through the feeding, spitting up more and had a few seemingly inexplicable crying (in pain) bouts this morning which broke my heart. No me gusta baby pain! So, now we have to try some techniques out which Dr. Google advised: Smaller but more frequent feedings Keeping her upright for about 30 min after feedings (which will make the overnight feedings even more of an adventure) Trying to put her mattress at an incline for sleeping So, we'll try the above and go from there. If it doesn't get better, we has to go to the Doctor to make it better. We're hoping she doesn't have to be dependent on meds for this.  Today doesn't feel quite right.

Abuelo

Izzy met her Maternal Grandfather today. He loved her. She cooed and smiled at him. He was nervous that she'd cry. She just laughed at us, then got tired and cried.  We've all been there... I haven't seen him in about 10 years. Lots of baggage there which we decided to put to the side for now. Good decision. I loved introducing him to his grand daughter and watching his amazement at the reality of the situation hitting him. I'm happy that the baggage is put aside and that we can hopefully start a new relationship. That is all. Izzy and her Abuelo

East Coast Earthquake Excitement Skipped Me Altogether... ((shrugs))

Image
Here's what Noah thought of the Earthquake scare. Here's what Izzy thought about it: Right, so, neither Izzy, nor I felt the earthquake. I was driving and suddenly heard the local radio news station reporting on it, next thing you know, Cowboy's calling me and excitedly asking me if I felt it the rumbling/shaking. I caught him up on the news that was being reported about it. I was actually on my way to picking Izzy up and when I got to Meddy's, I found her fast asleep. She slept through the excitement. So we both missed the excitement. ((shrugs)) As far as I know, everyone's ok, just shook up from the shock of it all. Izzy's time at Meddy's is going great so far. Her cousins fawn over her like she's a... (wait for it)... golden child. :) Noah especially. That's his lil precious cousin and he watches her like she's an angel. I wonder how they're going to interact when she's a lil older. Bilal keeps asking me if she's going to stay...

14 Week old Nugget

Image
Izzy is 14 weeks old today. I am sleepy today. Not sure what she's up to but she decided to wake up every 3 hours almost on the dot, to eat last night. O_O She hasn't done that since her 6 week growth spurt. We were starting to stretch out the feedings/wake time to go back to sleeping through the night but she then decided that wasn't fun. so... yeah. Ah babies and their schedule making skills. We went to La Grange winery w/some friends this past weekend and had a great time. Rowdy's parents had a family member's minivan so we set up the car seats in there and all piled in for our trip to the winery. It felt weird. Like a middle aged adventure. I can't believe we're all mid-to-late thirties. What in the world??? Anywho, Lil one loved being on the lawn and playing. Soon she'll be able to hold herself up well enough to play w/Rowdy on these excursions. Now if she could just be our DD already, that'd be perfect. Check out how adorable baby Rowdy is ...

Last day o' day care

Image
Lil Izzy is bidding the daycare center adieu today. She doesn't even know it. It's kind of a mixed back for me though. It's a good move to have her w/Meddy now because, well, it's family and she'll get one on one care, she'll get to be around her cousins and I get an excuse (much needed at that) to see my Brother more as well. It's not so great because she really is doing great at daycare and they LOVE them some Izzy. She's probably the easiest baby in the infant room. She's just always chilling... She's a quiet observer for the most part then starts chatting up the teachers here and there, then out to sleep, wakes up to feed and you got  you a full day of daycare. I like that they concentrate on different subjects on different days, even for the infants. They read them books and make sure they all interact as much as possible. I'm going to have to talk w/Meddy about incorporating this style in her days. Anywho, here's her last day o...

The Big Girl in her Big Girl chair

Image
Bumbo time! (Bumbo being the baby seat that supports them while they discover this new world of sitting upright) Bucking Bronco Bumbo Action And for my favorite from this set of pics, the 'no, I'm not ready for bed, don't take my rattle and  Bumbo away from me' shot. Fav- o - rite! I'll have to get a pic of her in her adorable basketball shorts today. She's all sporting it up. Said something about wanting to dunk on the kids in her infant playroom. ((shrugs))

She's in her teens!

Image
13 Weeks, Baby! Izzy turned 13 weeks today. She's been in our lives now 13 weeks!!11one!!! Can you believe it? On a fun note, she's grabbing at toys and repeating motions to recreate sounds she hears so she's learning patterns in actions. Yay! On a not so fun note, I'm sick. ugh. I got a bad cold ( maybe from one of mah babies :-P) and it's migrated down to my stomach. Fun! Each time I think it's getting better, my body lays me flat and thwacks me on the a$$. So, not better yet. blech. Alright, not too much fun to report so I'll cut to the chase and post some fun pics.    Check out the ears ! They run in me family. I told you guys she had some of my features too. So far, she has my ears and my feet. Poor girl... But she does have my hands so she must play piano.  She's starting to get really interested in toys and everything is going in her mouth. Check out that mug.  And here's the brilliant lil one this morning before daycare. 'Look a...

The family that sheds together....

We're all losing our hair. Izzy's is pretty much all fallen out on the top and sides and all that's left is the newly grown baby fuzz and some bald patches in the back above the remaining longer hairs. There's Izzy hair all over her car seat and mattress. She's like a shedding cat. Mine's starting to fall out too. Damn you hormones! ((shaking fist at uterus)) So far, it's not too bad but I've heard it can get pretty intense with small rat like messes clogging up the shower drain. This will be super sexy. If it gets that bad, I'll probably go for one of my shorter bob haircuts again or something funkier if I grow some balls (heh, that'll show my uterus to mess with my body... I mean, growing balls would really throw it for a loop, unless it's *that* accepting... I digress. big time). So, yeah, we're all losing our hair. I feel like our Christmas card this year may be a little frightening to others. We may be able to rock that look out thou...

Fashion Week in Review: Baby Edition

Image
Favorite outfit pics from the past week (yes, I take the pics on a regular since she's growing out of the clothes almost as fast as I put them on her and I want to remember all of the cuteness!): Ahhhhhhhhhhhdorable!  The shirt says it all. Clearly her Dad dressed her.  Do these shorts make mah thighs look om nommy fat? Don't lie to me! (heh, I just noticed her flipping the bird... again)  Got all cuted up for a b'day party.  Hi Bebe, can I om nom on your legs please?  Happy Bolivian Independence Day! (8/6/11)  What'chu say 'bout mah Momma??? What do you mean I have to take off this dress because it's still too big??? Back to the closet and onto the next outfit...  This cotton blend is to die for. I wonder if it stretches...  My kung fu is something to be feared. Step aside, young Grasshopper. That's your week in review of baby fashion at Casa de Izzy. Happy 12 weeks to our sweet little nugget! Time flies when you're drowning in cuteness.

Please, please, please be done with, dear 3 month growth spurt!

Image
Right as Izzy was recouping from her cold, she slid right into her 3 month growth spurt. Fun for the whole family! [insert bloodshot, bulging eyes, accompanied by delirious smile] She went from sleeping through the night to waking up for feedings every 3 hours and a few pretty solid fussy periods in the evenings. Thanks to wine and shaking off the nervous twitches, we got through it. She seems to be slowly reverting back to our bebe that we know and love. Time will confirm this. On a positive note, we are most likely taking her out of the daycare center and going to be leaving her with my SIL (Meddy) during the time I'm working. This is great on many notes. One, Meddy's lil ones are now in school so her days are wide open and this will help send our hard earned bucks over their way instead of to a chain daycare. This will also be cheaper for us and to know that she'll be able to focus on our lil nugget during the days instead of lil Izzy just being one of many being care...

Pissed

Literally, thanks to post-pregnancy bladder joys. Sneezing, coughing and hard laughs still make me dribble. Yep, I said it. I pee myself a wee bit with each muscle spasm involved in those joyful activities. AND when I run, it's just a whole world of fun for my bladder. Time to hustle on my kiegels. Speaking of running, I went no my very first outdoor run in almost a year and ooofta, was it tough. It was hot (not as hot as last week's scorcher though so I got inspired), hilly and rough but I got a 3 mile run in and thanks to my Garmin 405 GPS sports watch, I have the log of my trail running starting point. Today's Run Deets That's my starting point and it get only get better from here so bring on the race training. I'd offer myself up as a running partner to any of you peeps who run but it'd be terribly slow paced so I'll need to work on that before I put a dent in your run times. Upcoming runs include a Zombie 5K (Run For Your Lives) in October, Army 10 ...

Daycare guilt in da house

Image
I'm sure I'll grow out of this guilt phase but I'm having this mental back and forth between:      *Oh, it's nice to have this time to work and get back in the game as well as gym time before I pick up my nugget. AND     *Why am I letting her stay any extra minutes at daycare when she should be home with us? Is she feeling like she's been abandoned with strangers? Are they leaving her by herself in a corner to prune up in her own drool puddles? Does she feel like she's all alone now that she's been pushed out of her safe zone? Will our bond lessen with her in daycare now? This guilt is kicking me in the ass right now. I fight the urge to speed over to the daycare and yank her out of there for good. Yes, I know that daycare has it's pros, like her being exposed to more lil ones, some regimented stimulation/play time, enabling me to bring in some cash to get our finances in a decent place, etc... But it also comes with the sadness of missing out on mo...

'You're not my Mommy!'

That's what I envision Izzy thinking in her head when she looks at whoever may be holding her or around her at daycare. I envision one of the kind daycare teachers going to pick her up and Izzy screaming in her head "NotMyMommyNotMyMommyNotMyMommyNotMyMommy" and her wondering why Mommy left her there w/these strangers. In reality, she's probably all 'oh, hey, new smiling face. wanna make me smile? make faces at me! make me smile. weeeeeee. Oh hey, thanks for the bottle. Oh hi other lil bebes. How many of us are there? Lets make up an army of cuteness. weeeeeeee'. Took our lil nugget to 2 doctors' appointments today. First up was her physician, Dr. C. He's a pretty cool guy and makes me feel like our lil one is the bestest patient ever. He listened to her lungs (they talk, that's how advanced our bebe is) and checked out her ears and temp to make sure nothing's too awry and said she's just riding out this cold virus and to just know it wil...

First Day of new routines

Image
Well, dear lil Izzy has her first full day of daycare today as a registered bebe. Even though she's still getting that nasty cold out of her system, she was such a trooper. She had crummy weekend of being sick, though it was probably worse for us. Her cough started Friday night and developed into a full blown cold by Saturday. Her nose was runny and her cough started getting more frequent, not to mention her eyes were all red from rubbing them. Boo! It bit the big one! Here's her watching TV w/ Daddy (he dressed her too. Thanks for the baby camo, Mish!): Last night was her first night sleeping unswaddled. Now that she's trying to roll over more, we didn't want her waking up with her face planted into the mattress and unable to squirm out of it so she's graduated to sleeping in her sleeper PJ's instead of wrapped up like a lil burrito. She did pretty well and only woke up a couple of times around 2ish then 3ish but I think that was more out of not being able to...
